History

Peter Liegl founded Forest River in Elkhart, Indiana, in 1996 after taking some assets from the defunct Cobra Industries to form his own RV company. The first Forest River products included travel trailers, fifth wheels, park models, and pop-up campers. After these models saw success, the company expanded into motorhomes and other types of RVs. In 2005, investor Warren Buffet made Forest River part of his Berkshire Hathaway holding company.

 

FROG

The Forest River Owners Group (FROG) was created in 2011 to foster community amongst Forest River RV owners, and that’s the only qualification for membership. Every August, the company holds a rally in Goshen, Indiana, with entertainment, factory tours, and the opportunity to commune with other Forest River owners. RVers can trade travel stories and maintenance tips here and enjoy the sense of belonging that FROG provides.
